Thank God for Tequila

I've got great news. Ready? Here it is...

After several months of having a really bad attitude and opting to simply "not work", my coffee Keurig has rejoined us. I went back and forth debating its replacement but didn't want to shell out the money because it was making all of the right noises, just not actually pouring the cup. A friend suggested hitting it, then talking nicely. I think it was standing in front of it crying because I just wanted some hot chocolate that really did the trick. Either way, it works and my week really needed that. I won't give up my fancy Starbucks latte anytime soon, but the expense was damn near killing me and I needed something right outside my bedroom door in the morning so I could wake up enough to get myself to Starbucks.

If this doesn't excite you, you must have one of those really great lives where you always win and things go right when they need to or you just don't fully understand the anguish that my lack of Keurig has caused me in the past several months.

After battling all sorts of traffic getting into South Loop this morning for the All-Star game, I've made it out to my mother's house in the burbs where I was greeted by my sister's puppy, Ruthie (tell me you know one more person that is THAT much of a femanist..I'll wait). Ruthie, now slightly bigger than she was at Christmas, still has more energy than most people down an entire eight ball and really enjoys eating hair. If you don't follow me on other social media forms, Cameron, my nanny baby, already has this taken care of. Some of you don't have anything in your life that eats your hair and it really shows. I'm not going to get into this to the point where I start to cry, but I do quite miss my very chill lump of an energy-less piglet dog. I'm not entirely fond of being jumped on or chewed or sat on while I lay on the couch. Ruthie even made an attempt to remove the earrings from my cartilege, and as they aren't the kind that just pops out, it was extra enjoyable. If you've ever met me, they're the same earrings that have always been in my ear and it's more because they can't easily be removed, but thanks for trying Ruth.

Also on the list of wins for this week, I had Thursday off which made me available for Happy Hour, and that was just lovely. I didn't even order off the Happy Hour menu, just got something fruity with Blanco in it. If you've never had a nice Tequila cocktail while it's still light outside, you probably don't know true happiness. I also watched both Princess Diaries movies on Disney+ and I found the bubbling Chardonnay that I became obsessed with at Jewel. I grabbed a sixer of that and a large stuffed unicorn since the usual discounted Valentine's candy had not yet been discounted. I think they're onto us with this cheap chocolate grab as soon as Valentine's Day is over so they added another full-price day. So Rude. Just let us people who need that sort of thing have it, okay? I also filed my taxes late January because the government throws us broke college kids some extra cash, so my return came this week and I got to spend it all on credit card bills and Lulus. I also got drunk twice with it and finished last night with an espresso martini, so don't question how I choose to spend my money.

Yes, Lulus is my go-to clothing provider. NOT Lululemon..I'm not Melinda fucking Gates, just Lulus. If anyone who works for that organization happens to be reading, I'd love to be sponsored. If you can't sponsor me, still check out their site because the clothing and dress selection is amazing, high quality, affordable, and they somehow know every time I get paid and e-mail me a 20% off coupon. Between them, Gap jeans, and Amazon, I really don't think there's anything else on earth I could ask for.

I've just finished the first bottle of that Chardonnay, and mother is highly responsible and well behaved these days so I've got to take down the other five by myself. If you're someone who knew me when I didn't really drink, let's hang out again soon because I'm a lot more fun now. I know a great place to drink full-priced tequila during Happy Hour.
